This important recording was first released in early 1975 as an LP by Kicking Mule Records. It became a best seller for that small but influential record company and inspired many of today’s top guitarists. The original LP sold out within a few years of its release. In 1996 it was re-released by Fantasy Records on CD. Dale has recorded new renditions of some of the tunes from this record on the CD Time Goes By.

Contemporary Ragtime Guitar

Dale made his recording debut in the early 1970s on this LP, the seventh released by Kicking Mule Records. Its surprising success helped define the company as a label that specialized in guitar soloists and helped introduce and popularize solo ragtime guitar. Joining Dale are Eric Schoenberg, David Laibman, Tony Marcus, Leo Wijnkamp and Tom Gilfellon. It has been re-released on CD by Stefan Grossman’s Guitar Workshop. Miller re-recorded his arrangement of Bye Bye Blackbird on his CD Both of Me.

This LP was released in 1976 by Kicking Mule Records. Dale’s best known contribution was a version of Over the Rainbow with a walking bass line, which he re-recorded on his CD Time Goes By. It has been re-released on CD by Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop.

The Revenge of Blind Joe Death

This CD was produced by Jon Monday in 2006 for Takoma Records. There are twenty selections and each is played by a different musican or musicians. Some play Fahey covers and others do originals inspired by and/or dedicated to him. Dale’s version of Fahey’s Sunflower River Blues kicks off the CD. The age range of the players runs from twenty something to sixty something.

Fingers Don’t Fail Me Now

Fingers Don’t Fail Me Now was Dale’s last LP for Kicking Mule Records and his only one of all original guitar solos. A few cuts from this LP are included on the CD Guitarist/Composer Sampler. John Calvin of Moonset recorded Butano Lullaby on the CD Wherever We Sing and Teja Gerken recorded Noe Valley Sunday on his CD Postcards. Singer/songwriter William McLane added musical accompaniment to a tongue-in-cheek Miller essay in the book. McLane has recorded it on his CD Across the Double Yellow Line.

Country Blues and Ragtime Guitar Styles was released as a Book/Cassette combo by Kicking Mule Records in the 1980s and re-released as a book/CD combo by Mel Bay Publications in the 1990s. It contained 14 blues guitar solos explained and notated in standard notation and guitar tablature.
